Where's Indian Politics heading to ?

Recently there was an article written by Shashi Tharoor( The Indian who was in the running for the UN General Secretary post) about the effectiveness of American Presidents (with the exception of one or two) when compared to that of Indian Politics as a whole . And true was he when he rightly found out that the reason to America's current status is due to their "Educated Presidents" ! Out of the last 20 odd presidents America has had, 10 of them have been graduated from either the prestigious Harvard University or the Yale University. Now why is that India is still developing when most of the countries are ahead of us ? We surely can't complain about the lack of resources.

Well, I strongly do believe it is the inability of our politicians to think and chalk out better strategies. And so here it all starts. Can people having literally no education be politicians of India ? The answer would definitely be a "NO" . A unanimous one too. Let's just look around to see what's happening in our country.

One on hand we have the Congress which shows us the perfect example of 'All power and no responsibility'. And the President of India, who yet again is from the Congress, shows us a contrasting example of all the good things which the respected Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam had achieved in his four years at the helm.

On the other, we have an so called opposition(BJP) who literally live up to their tag of "opposition party" by opposing each and every bill which is being bought about by the Ruling Government without paying much thoughts about the welfare of the country.

Now how in the world can we imagine our country being par with the United States in the coming years with this kind of a political system ?

There are many unanswered questions which won't be answered until we have politicians like the ones we have now.

It's too hard to imagine a country like India, which has such an excellent record in its cultural front, have too many politicians but hardly any statesmen.

Thanks

Sid.!
